NEA Big Read Indigenous Film Series: Gather

November 3, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The second of three films in our Indigenous Film Series, “Gather” follows the stories of natives on the frontlines of a growing movement to reconnect with spiritual and cultural identities that were devastated by genocide. “Gather” follows Nephi Craig, a chef from the White Mountain Apache Nation (Arizona), opening an indigenous cafĂ© as a nutritional recovery clinic; Elsie Dubray, a young scientist from the Cheyenne River Sioux Nation (South Dakota), conducting landmark studies on bison; and the Ancestral Guard, a group of environmental activists from the Yurok Nation (Northern California), trying to save the Klamath river.

NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. The National Endowment for the Arts Big Read is designed to broaden our understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. Patagonia Public Library is one of 60+ nonprofit organizations to receive a grant to host an NEA Big Read project.
